Department of Neurosurgery,
The Jikei University School of Medicine
It is my great honor to host the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Neuroendovascular Therapy (JSNET 2026), which will be held over three days from November 19 (Thursday) to 21 (Saturday), 2026, at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo.
The theme of this meeting is “INNOVATION.”
Neuroendovascular therapy has evolved on the foundation of detailed anatomical knowledge, driven by continuous advances in innovative medical devices. Many of these devices have been developed based on the creative and forward-thinking ideas of clinicians with a strong passion for solving clinical challenges. However, much of this development has historically been led by Western countries, and there is a growing expectation for Japan to contribute original and high-quality devices and systems to the global field.
The development of superior medical technologies requires close collaboration across disciplines, including partnerships between medicine and engineering, as well as academia and industry. In Japan, national initiatives are increasingly supporting medical device innovation, with regulatory frameworks gradually becoming more accommodating. Organizations such as AMED are playing a central role in promoting domestic development, particularly through enhanced support for startups. In addition to hardware devices, software as a medical device (SaMD), medical AI, and big data-driven healthcare ICT are becoming essential components in the advancement of neuroendovascular therapy.
In this meeting, alongside traditional clinical and scientific presentations, we have designed a program that provides comprehensive opportunities to learn about the entire process of innovative medical device development—from concept design and intellectual property strategy to commercialization and exit strategies. Our goal is to foster the advancement of neuroendovascular device innovation originating from Japan.
Furthermore, this meeting marks a long-awaited return to Tokyo. In addition to engaging scientific discussions during the day, we are planning opportunities for participants to also enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Tokyo in the evening. Our entire department is committed to warmly welcoming all participants and ensuring that this meeting will be both academically rewarding and personally memorable.
We sincerely look forward to your participation.
